Club Communication is a critical factor in member satisfaction and the overall health of a Rotary Club. We have four primary vehicles for ensuring our members get the latest, most important information.
Sometimes we get emails about something the club president thinks needs to get to the members urgently.
When it is less urgent, we use our longstanding publication, the “Hubcap” or “Hub Cap,” as known initially. When I say longstanding, I mean it. The Hubcap began about three-quarters of a century ago. Originally printed, virtually everyone now views the Hubcap on a screen. Its unique features are the president’s message and the report of our last meeting. These “It Happened Last Thursday” reports are a great way to catch on the many announcements made during programs. Much of the rest of the Hubcap comes from our website.
After many years of neglect, our website,
arlingtonrotary.com, is again robust and up-to-date, thanks to our webmaster Bill Daley and our presidents-elect, who upload essential information about upcoming programs and events. The Hubcap takes this information directly from the website.
The most up-to-date club information often comes from our Facebook page,
Rotary Club of Arlington – Texas. April Pettitt took over the management of this news source a few years ago and made it current and eye-catching. Thanks, April!
Lately, I added some content to this weekly meeting reminder I send on Thursday mornings. I call this the Hubcap EXTRA. The main content, other than the reminder, will soon be pictures. I do not want to duplicate photographs that appear either on the Facebook page or the Hubcap. You can help by sending me your Rotary-related or community activity pictures. I will try to use as many as I can.
