Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare

Tarrant County Update

Oct. 22, 2026

Tim O’Hare was elected Tarrant County Judge on November 8, 2022, becoming the 33rd individual to serve in this role since the county’s founding in 1849. As County Judge, he serves as the Chief Political Executive of one of the largest and fastest-growing counties in Texas, overseeing critical county operations and guiding policy decisions that impact residents, families, and businesses across the region.

A fifth-generation Texan and lifelong resident of the Metroplex, Judge O’Hare brings both deep regional roots and extensive professional experience to his role. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin in 1991 and a Juris Doctor from SMU School of Law in 1995. Prior to taking office, he spent more than twenty-five years managing a successful law firm and a real estate investment company.

Judge O’Hare’s public service includes leadership at the municipal level, where he served as a City Councilman and later as Mayor of Farmers Branch from 2008 to 2011. During his tenure, he led efforts to reduce government spending, improve public safety, and significantly lower the city’s unfunded pension liability—demonstrating a consistent commitment to fiscal responsibility and accountable governance.
