April is Environmental Month in Rotary, and it offers a meaningful reminder that the health of our communities is directly tied to the health of our environment. Through Rotary International, we are called not only to serve people, but also to protect the world we all share.
I’ve come to appreciate that environmental stewardship is not a distant or abstract idea—it’s something we can live out right here in Arlington. Whether it’s supporting local clean-up efforts, planting trees, conserving water, or partnering with organizations that prioritize sustainability, each action we take contributes to something much larger.
What makes this focus especially important is how closely the environment is tied to the well-being of those we serve. Clean water, safe sanitation, and access to healthy green spaces are not luxuries: They are essential to strong, thriving communities. When we invest in our environment, we invest in people.
As Rotarians, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to lead by example. Environmental Month is a chance for us to commit simple, impactful actions. And to inspire others to join us. Service above self extends beyond individuals: It includes caring for the world that sustains us all.
This April, I encourage each of us to take one step—big or small—toward making our community a cleaner, healthier place to live.
I appreciate YOU!
Club Vision Statement “To inspire and unite individuals who are passionate about making a lasting impact, both locally and globally, through service, connection and leadership.”

Birthdays this month: April Pettit April 3, and Mojy Haddad April 4. We didn’t have a regular anniversary this week, so we celebrated Brian Compton’s one-week anniversary!
Stacy Bridger introduced today’s speaker, Letatia Teykl, Executive Director of the Levitt Pavilion of Arlington since 2019. Letatia was raised in Arlington, attended Sam Houston High School, and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University. Our Pavilion has hosted over 806 free shows since 2008. Including the summer of that awful COVID year, when 309,000 people watched virtual concerts!
The Pavilion is funded by Arlington Tomorrow Fund, the City of Arlington, and the Levitt Family Foundation. Our Pavilion received $2.3 million for a renovation project: new sound board, new lighting and new upgraded digital screens. Plus, robotic cameras will show the audience from time to time, which is always interesting to those streaming and proves that there is great attendance.
Normally at Levitt events, there is a 7 pm show for amateurs, or even student talent, before the headliner begins. Sometimes, the warm-up is given by someone the headliner recommended.
The restrooms are now air-conditioned, and some storage areas are climate controlled to keep electronics from being damaged by extreme temperature changes. These expenses make donations necessary for a venue that provides free concerts.
Letatia reminded us that the Levitt helps surrounding businesses, by drawing people downtown. Dream Fest this year is May 22-24. The opening concert this year is Friday April 24, at 7:30 pm starring Uncle Lucius. April 25 features Jay Perez with Sabor Pure.
There are five concerts in June, amidst the anticipated crowding of Arlington during the FIFA World Cup games. Juneteenth and the July 4 celebrations will run as scheduled. The Levitt also has free movie nights, great for families. Levitt worked with 50 nonprofit organizations last year. Letatia noted the Levitt works closely with the Arlington Police to ensure safety.
