Vera's Last View

Dear Rotary Club of Arlington,

The Magic of Rotary for me the past year has been working alongside gifted people to bring good things to the citizens of our community and to people in other parts of the world. From raising funds to help end Polio, to purchasing school supplies for Webb students, and handing out food at Arlington Charities, this club has been engaged in building good will in Arlington.

Thank you, club members, officers, directors, and advisers for your words of encouragement, your participation in service, and support of my presidency of this club for the last twelve months. Our meetings have served as a challenge for me to work to enhance relationships among members and to build upon the purpose that Rotary promotes.

Time has not allowed me the space to accomplish all of the ideas I had hoped to see materialize this year; however, I will continue working with the incoming president to help grow and develop some of these ideas such as the Family of Rotary, growing the Interact Club, giving more recognition to each members vocation along with giving more of our members the hands-on opportunity for service.

My purpose in joining Rotary was to seek an opportunity to work with others in our community with a heart for service. I have found those special people in this club and I am honored to be a part of an organization that truly lives up to its mission. One lesson that continues to register with me from the RI convention last May is that we as Rotarians should intentionally plan to care for each other as we serve our communities around the world. I see that care happening regularly in our club!

I am grateful for this space in the Hubcap I have had to share my thoughts and ideas about the things of Rotary. Thank you to Clete and Jason for getting them published the last twelve months. The next edition will be Randy’s Roundup!
