Stacy's Soliloquy
Let’s get involved!

We need YOU! It is time to explore all that Rotary has to offer YOU!  The weekly lunch meetings, socials, Christmas Party, or the Second Saturday Charity volunteer workdays are great to be involved with your Club. Donations to help with needs in education, food insecurity, or disaster aid are also part of what makes up our Club. But wait, is there more???

The Rotary Club of Arlington is the hardest working group of individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Hardworking – but we can do more! There are so many areas that we can either get invol-ved with now or begin a new interest that the Club may rally around as a new project. Let us figure it out together!

On October 15, during our regularly scheduled meeting, we will also have a Comm-ittee Fair where you will have the opportunity to explore areas of interest. Or just come to learn what our Club is actively involved with. There will be a few special guests as our speakers to share meaningful projects that our Club does so well.

Our Rotary Club of Arlington remains focused and active in so many support areas, but each year, the leadership also brings new ideas to the table. Members of the leadership Board will be on hand to share where we currently have needs, plus new ideas to explore. If you have a hard time coming to meetings, get involved with planning the socials or new fundraising events outside of meetings.  If you prefer not to sit on a committee, get involved with the Second Saturday Volunteer events. If you enjoy working with kids in education, the scholarships or adventure camp may be just the place! If you have specific skills (A/V, graphics, working with outdoor tools…) we can use YOU! Or, if you just want to learn about what is going on, get to know your Board and share with others what we do as a Club!

Every single Member is important and as we work and grow together as a Club, we can make a difference both locally, in the world, and individually!

Let’s be people who create lasting impact!

Yours in Rotary Service,
Stacy Bridger

Birthday and Polio Checks

As our club’s Foundation Chair, I’d like to thank each of you for supporting the Rotary International Foundation and its work around the world and in our own city. Rotary suggests each member contribute $100 annually to the RI Foundation.

One way our club does this is through birthday checks. Members donate on their birthday with a check made out to “Rotary Foundation,” in the amount of their age or a little higher ($100). Rotary tracks each individual donation and those who donate $1,000 receive a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF). Our club currently has 89 Paul Harris Fellow members!

Want your Birthday money to go towards fighting polio? Write the check to “Rotary Foundation” as per normal and write “Polio” in the memo line. Please write separate checks for the general RI Foundation fund and the polio fund: although both receive credit towards a PHF, the paperwork for each is different.

Funds designated for the RI Foundation are the source of our club’s grant money three years from now when it is returned to our District. Do not miss this great program to help us support Rotary’s excellent work at home and abroad.
