Born and raised in Tarrant County, Mary Louise has served our communities her whole life. She came through local schools and went on to the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated with honors. Initially a young entrepreneur working with businesses and non-profits, Mary Louise successfully transitioned from the private sector to public service. She served on the Tarrant County Sheriff’s command staff for eight years before being sworn in as County Clerk on January 1, 2011.

In Rotary, we speak of service above self. Yet behind every act of service lies something just as powerful: friendship!
Simple tasks have an impact on creating friendships. A handshake at a meeting. A shared laugh over coffee. A conversation about why we joined Rotary in the first place. Over time, these moments weave into something deeper: A bond built on trust, respect, and a shared vision for a better world.
I recently returned from an out-of-town funeral of a dear friend’s husband. Our group of friends, which span over 35 years, remain connected through many life-changing events. When we reunite, we pick up again where we left off, celebrating the present. The connection is strong!
Friendships are not just confined to borders. Through Rotary’s global programs, we meet people whose lives are different from ours, yet whose heart beats with the same desire to serve.
So, what is the true value of service and promoting goodwill? In Rotary, friendship is not just a pleasant byproduct of service: It’s the very foundation that makes our service meaningful, lasting, and full of joy.
As we nurture these bonds, we strengthen not only our projects and our club, but also each other as well. And together, there is no limit to the good we can do!
