Stacy's Soliloquy
Let There be Peace on Earth
And let it Begin With Me
September 21 is World Peace Day. What a wonderful world it could be if people all over the world would strive for peace! It is not only a lofty goal, but also a daily choice.
Peace comes in many forms. It unites kindness, compassion, and respect for one another. In a world often divided, we can still choose how to live our life and respond to each other in ways that show a truce, which is a connection to peace.
Your club is continually active in promoting peace around the world, even in our own Arlington. Jim and Sheri Quick, our resident Peace Ambassadors, have been helping Rotary foster peace through service, advocacy, collaboration, and education: All traits that Rotary International deems so especially important for a healthy world!
Close to home, our club completed construction of a Peace Pole at Arlington’s Meadowbrook Park in 2024. Then President Barry Bondurant said this pole was erected to symbol unity for all nations, and as a place to pause and reflect. The Rotary Peace Pole has the words “May Peace Prevail” in many different languages on all sides. Beautiful landscaping surrounds the pole and brings the message into a perfect setting. If you haven’t already, please take time to go see this.
As you go through your week, take time to soak in what unites us together. There are plenty of people that point out our differences. Yet we're not them. Instead, let’s choose understanding over anger, unity over division, and hope over fear.
Let’s be people who create lasting and peaceful impact!
Yours in Rotary Service,
Stacy Bridger
