Resources to Navigate A Small Business Beyond COVID-19

Ahmad joined the US Small Business Administration in June 2010 and currently is the Lead Economic Development Specialist in the Dallas/Ft. Worth District Office, where he manages a team that works on building and maintaining collaborative partnerships. Ahmad’s outreach has helped generate over $6.7 billion to small businesses and creating over 50,000 jobs in the DFW area through SBA’s traditional programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked to provide outreach and assistance to local business communities on Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan program, which helped over 100,000 businesses get over $6 billion to recover. Ahmad also serves as the Public Information Officer for the district and has managed media relations for six presidential cabinet members. In April 2021, SBA tapped Ahmad to help lead the SBA’s $16.2 billion Shutter Venue Operator Grant (SVOG) program to provide financial assistance to live entertainment small businesses and non-profits.

Ahmad is currently a member of the Texas Southern University Jesse H. Jones School of Business Advisory Council, member of the board of directors for Texas Pride Impact Funds, Board President of the Muhlaysia Booker Foundation, member of the VisitDallas 2026 FIFA World Cup Bid Committee and member of the City of Dallas Business Diversity Taskforce. He previously served as commissioner on the City of DeSoto Building and Standards Commission, member of the North Texas Affordable Care Act Coalition, and as an adjunct professor of government at Mountain View College.

Ahmad was just named a 2022 Dallas Business Journal 40 under 40 honoree. He has also been recognized as the 2021 Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce Emerging Leader.

He attended H. Grady Spruce High School in Dallas, graduated from Jarvis Christian College with a degree in History, earned his Masters in Political Science from Dallas Baptist University and currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Arlington.
