UTA Women's Basketball is shaping up for the WIN!!!

Shereka Wright enters her seventh season as head coach for the UT Arlington women’s basketball program after taking over in 2020. A native of Copperas Cove, Texas, Wright was a decorated standout at Purdue, where she became the program’s only three-time All-American and was later inducted into the Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame. She was selected 13th overall in the 2004 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock, before being traded to the Phoenix Mercury. 

 

Prior to UTA, Wright spent time on the coaching staffs at Texas Tech (2006-2013), Alabama (2013-2018) and Vanderbilt (2018-2020). She guided UTA to the 2022 Sun Belt Tournament Championship and the program’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007. Coach Wright has continued to elevate Lady Mavs into professionals on and off the court.
