Suggested Mentoring Guidelines

 

The Mentor will:

  1. Understand the purpose of the Red Badge program which is to get the new MEMBER comfortable within Rotary, to introduce the Member to others, and to insure the Member gets involved with some of the club activities.
  2. Meet the Member several times a year (lunch, coffee, etc) to discuss Rotary questions and the Member interests within the club.
  3. Ask the MEMBER what the expectations of the Member are such as the need to join for friendship, networking, service, or other reasons.  The Mentor will try to fulfill the MEMBER expectations.
  4. Help introduce the Member to those within the club that have similar interests and vocations.
  5. Assist the member with completing the Red Badge program and ensure that the club secretary is notified after completing red badge tasks.
  6. Sit with the Member at Rotary for a few meetings after their initiation.
  7. Facilitate placing the Member with a Rotary project/activities:
    • Present awards to students of Elementary and Junior High schools in Arlington
    • Volunteer with various Community Activities (2nd Saturdays, Webb School activities)
    • Assist Sergeant-At-Arms with meeting preparation
    • Assist the Club secretary with duties
    • Assist with planning club activities such as social events
    • Assist with production of the weekly publication of the Club Newsletter (the Hubcap)
    • Assist the President or other Board members with special assignments
    • Work with Webb School Scholarship program such as administration, Pell Grant applications, golf tournament
    • Other club activities as needed
