The Vocational Service committee of our club set a goal: Engage our members with our local community, in a vibrant and innovative way. As a result, our team provided some excellent programs to our members this year which included an innovative panel format, as well as drawing members into the programs by providing time for questions and dialogue with our guests. In addition, we interviewed and recognized community members including:
  • Area Business Leaders: Wayne Hassler – Chick-Fil-A owner and operator, Kara Conner – Park Place Mercedes Benz Marketing Liaison, Curt Taylor – Legal Draft Beer Company owner and operator
  • Arlington Education Innovator panelists: Kerry Winter, Ami Motsenbocker, Katiuska Herrador, Wendy Harrington
  • Vocational Service Award winners: Officer Brown, Officer Bowden, Fire Fighter Deputy Chief Gerald Randall, Lieutenant David Tyler, Dagmar Cox, Emily Berrong
  • The “Chief’s” Program with Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson and Arlington Fire Chief Don Crowson.
  • The 4 Way Speech Contest: What a joy it is to host such enterprising young people who extoll the virtues of the Rotary 4-Way Test! Contestants were Blake and Gracie, from Arlington High School, and AISD Contest Coordinator, Jonni Davis.

As a result of these programs, attendance was up, and we helped to create awareness and develop relationships within the community.
